Chapter 1: The Wonderful World of Science

1. What is Science?

Science is a way of thinking, observing and doing things to understand the world.

It helps us uncover the secrets of the universe.

Imp: The most important thing is CURIOSITY (To ask questions!)

2. Science is like a Jigsaw Puzzle ЁЯзй

  • Every discovery = A new piece of the puzzle.
  • There is no limit! New knowledge leads to more questions.

3. What do we Explore?

  • Earth: Our home, environment.
  • Life: Plants (seeds -> trees), Animals.
  • Materials: Food, Water (Ice/Steam), Metals etc.

The Scientific Method

A step-by-step process to find answers.

Example: Pen stops writing?

1. Observe: Pen is not working.

2. Question: Why did it stop?

3. Guess: Maybe ink is finished?

4. Test: Check the refill.

5. Analyse: If empty -> Guess was right!

4. Who is a Scientist?

Anyone who uses the scientific method is a scientist!

Eg: A cook (why did dal spill?), An electrician, or YOU.

Remember: "To be a wise person, you must be a 'whys' person!"
