1889 November 14: Born in Allahabad, British India.
1905 Begins studies at Harrow School, England.
1907 Enters Trinity College, Cambridge.
1910 Graduates from Cambridge with a degree in Natural Sciences.
1912 Called to the Bar from Inner Temple, London.
1912 Returns to India and begins practicing law in Allahabad.
1916 Marries Kamala Kaul.
1919 Joins the Indian National Congress.
1920 Participates in the Non-Cooperation Movement.
1923 Becomes General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee.
1929 Elected President of the Indian National Congress at the Lahore session, advocating for complete independence.
1930 Participates in the Salt Satyagraha and is imprisoned.
1936 Elected Congress President for the second time.
1942 Participates in the Quit India Movement and is imprisoned.
1947 August 15: Becomes the first Prime Minister of independent India.
1950 Plays a key role in drafting the Indian Constitution.
1955 Awarded the Bharat Ratna.
