Expelled from Presidency College for assaulting Professor Oaten.

Admitted to Scottish Church College, Calcutta.

Goes to England to prepare for the Indian Civil Service.
1921
Resigns from the Indian Civil Service.
1921
Meets Mahatma Gandhi and joins the Indian National Congress.
1924
Becomes CEO of Calcutta Municipal Corporation.
1930
Imprisoned for his involvement in the Civil Disobedience Movement.
1938
Elected President of the Indian National Congress at Haripura.
1939
Re-elected President at Tripuri, but resigns due to differences with Gandhi.
1939
Forms the Forward Bloc.
1941
Escapes from house arrest and travels to Germany via Afghanistan and the Soviet Union.

Travels to Japan and assumes leadership of the Indian National Army (INA).
